10 New Movies and TV Shows to Watch in December 2022
Here are the must-see movies and TV shows coming out next month, from the sequel to Avatar that everyone is excited about to the third season of Emily in Paris. It’s the holiday season, which means it’s time to curl up by a fireplace and watch a lot of TV shows, both new and old. From the highly anticipated and long-awaited release of the Avatar sequel to the first episodes of new shows, there are a lot of movies and TV shows to keep you busy this season. 1. Season 2 of Gossip Girl
Greetings, Upper East Siders! Gossip Girl is coming back for more drama, romance, heartbreak, and, of course, gossip. After the first season was a big hit, the second season is finally ready to come out. Get ready for (hopefully!) another classic Thanksgiving episode and some exciting cameos from the original cast. Gossip Girl Season 2 will start on HBO Max on December 1.
2. Violent Night
In this dark, funny action movie, Santa Claus saves the day when mercenaries attack. This movie is for people who like both Christmas and action. Violent Night comes out in theaters on December 2 with David Harbor as Santa Claus.
3. George & Tammy
Singer Tammy Wynette gets her big break opening for her idol, country singer George Jones. When the two meet, sparks fly, and their love story and hard times lead to some of the most famous country music. The show George & Tammy, which stars Jessica Chastain and Michael Shannon, will air on Showtime and Paramount+ on December 4.
4. Kindred
The miniseries Kindred on FX is about a young woman who wants to be a writer. She learns about her family’s past and finds herself in and out of time on a plantation in the 19th century. The mystery series premieres on Hulu on December 13 and is based on a book by Octavia E. Butler from 1979.
5. Avatar: The Way of Water
People who have been waiting patiently for 13 years for the next Avatar movie can finally see it. Jake Sully’s story on the planet Pandora will continue in Avatar: The Way of Water. He and the Na’vi race will go on a journey to protect the planet. The movie comes out in theaters on December 16.
6. 1923
You can’t miss this American Western movie with Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren. The series takes place in 1923. It comes before Yellowstone and comes after 1883. The series shows what happens to the Dutton family in Montana during the Western Expansion, Prohibition, and the Great Depression. 1923 starts on Paramount+ on December 18.
7. Season 3 of Emily in Paris
The end of Season 2 of Emily in Paris made us wonder if Emily wanted to stay in Paris or go back to Chicago. We can’t wait to see what Season 3 has in store as the love triangle between her, Gabriel, Camille, and Alfie gets more complicated. The third season of Emily in Paris comes out on Netflix on December 21, just in time for you to binge-watch it during the holidays.
8. Babylon
Babylon is about the ambitious lives of people who want to be actors in Hollywood. It takes place in the late 1920s, when silent movies were being replaced by movies with sound. Babylon will come out in theaters on December 23. It stars Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, and Tobey Maguire, among others.
9. Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery
After Knives Out was a hit, the second movie takes Detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) to a billionaire’s private island. When a Murder Mystery party turns into a real murder mystery, Blanc has to try again to find out who did it. On December 23, you can watch Netflix to find out what’s going on.
10. The Witcher: Blood Origin
Blood Origin will be the show that comes before The Witcher on Netflix. Set more than a thousand years ago, the show is about seven outcast elves who go on a quest to stop an empire that can’t be stopped. The first episode will be on Netflix on December 25.
